Micromobility includes electric and human-powered scooters, bicycles, and similar devices. KAUST supports their safe use to reduce vehicle-related risks and promote sustainability. Electric micromobility devices may be ridden on cycle lanes and on KAUST roads. On the Academic Campus, only ride electric-powered micromobility on the pathway behind Buildings 2 to 5. Electric-powered micromobility may only be used in other areas when in human-powered mode.

Use cycle lanes, KAUST roads, and the designated Academic Campus pathway behind Buildings 2–5.

– Yield to pedestrians
– Dismount at crossings
– Wear a certified, fastened helmet
– Use front and rear lights
– One rider on basic commuter e-scooter
– Indoor or sidewalk riding
– Distracted riding
– Carrying passengers
– Blocking doors or emergency equipment when parking
– Failing to stop at STOP signs

WHY IT MATTERS? Quiet, faster electric devices can create close-call risks for pedestrians.
